TRAMPOLINE

Today we got a fun surprise at our door. I saw the fed ex guy start to bring out the boxes and Makena just watched and was wondering "Mom, what's in those boxes?" I said, I don't know but they are from Grandma and Grandpa. As soon as she saw the picture of the trampoline on the box...she said, "it's a tramp! I'm so excited. I always wanted one." She was jumping up and down and couldn't believe it. It was fun to see her face. (Kali was asleep) And it was perfect timing, Jarel pulled up just as the fed ex man was getting the last box out. So we were able to put the trampoline up then. When Kali woke up (the tramp was all put together), I told her to look outside and when she saw it, she put her hands to her mouth and was amazed. It is fun to surprise them. The girls are having a great time on it. Thanks Grandpa and Grandma...we LOVE it and LOVE you!

First Taste

Today, Tyler had his first taste of a strawberry sucker (thanks to Kali). He loved it and couldn't get enough. It was quite cute to see Kali feeding it to Tyler.

Hogle Zoo

Today we went to the zoo with Gretchen, Ryan and Jenny. The highlight was the baby giraffe and baby snow leopard. The baby elephant will be on display in 4-6 weeks, and I am sure we will be back to see it. We had a good time. Here are a few pictures from our trip!

Fun, Cute, Silly Kali!

Potato Bugs

The last couple of mornings, when Tyler is taking his morning naps, the girls and I go outside and catch potato bugs. It is quite fun. I give the girls cups to put them in. They first get grass in their cups so the potato bugs have something to climb onto and then they start the collecting. We walk up and down the sidewalks and also the driveway. We also venture to the neighbors driveways to get some "good ones." Makena gets so excited when she spots a potato bug and Kali loves to hold the cup with the potato bugs in them. It is a fun time...I sit on the porch and think, "Could this get any better? Spending time with my girls and catching potato bugs." A good time by all.

Makena with her collection of potato bugs.

This was a very big potato bug that Makena wouldn't dare touch. So Makena had Kali go and get him. Kali had no problem going up to the "big potato bug" and catching him.

Their cup of potato bugs. We usually spend about 30-45 minutes outside collecting these little guys and try to get as many as we can.

Once we have enough...Makena sets them free. She turns her cup over and lets them loose.

Then the bugs start crawling (most of them...Kali likes picking them up kind of hard and squishes them) and we see who can make it to the grass the first.

Fair and Miniature Golf

Yesterday we spent the evening at the fair. We go every year and always have a fun time. The kids love seeing the animals and we always have to ride the horses. It was a fun evening. This year we were down a kid. Makena has been in California visiting cousins. Grandpa and Grandma Hathaway took her down. She is having a great time and doesn't want to come home.

Tyler looking at the kangaroo.

Tyler watching the horses. He just stared the whole time Kali was riding the horse.

Kali riding the horse. She could have stayed up there all night. She loves horses and had a fun time. Whenever she would come around, she would tell me "Mom, I'm riding a horse. Look at me!"

Kali touching the kangaroo. She wanted to touch him so bad, but was afraid at first. When I told her it was okay, she stuck her hand in and touched him. She was so proud and just smiled. She is a FUN kid!!

Jarel, Kali and Tyler by the sheep.

Tonight we went miniature golfing. This was a first for Kali, but she knew just what to do. She ran up to the spot to put her ball on and was ready to go. Once we were finished with the hole and were waiting for the next one, Kali loved putting her ball in the hole, taking it out, putting it in the hole, taking it out, putting it in, over and over. The weather was perfect, we had a good time.

Kali on the first hole. Getting ready to hit her ball.

By the 3rd hole, she figured it was easier just to throw the ball into the hole!

On one of the holes, it was a house and you had to hit the ball under the porch, well to Kali that was no fun. Sitting on the porch was better. She didn't want to get off. Finally we told her there was water up ahead and then she came off.

Tyler had to get in on the action. We put him by the hole and he went for the balls and started eating them. He just learned this past week that he can sit up by himself now. He is sitting longer and longer each day.

YUMMY

Doesn't that just look so yummy? Well, it was!!! We had our first corn of the season from our garden last night! It was so good...can't wait to have it again tonight. Jarel had to put the tomatoes in to show everyone just how proud he is that he grew tomatoes. He HATES the things...but LOVES to grow them for me!

PreSchool

Makena had her first day of preschool today. She LOVED it. Her teacher's name is Miss Marcie. Makena loves her teacher so much, that she even named one of her dogs "Miss Marcie." When I asked Makena what she did in school she told me that they read the caterpillar book, got to play outside on the slide, sing the Lion King song and the crocodile song. She also did a paper and had to get the mouse to the cheese without crossing any lines. She did a pretty good job at that. And then they made paper hats. I asked Makena if she wanted to go back and her response, "Yes mom, I had a fun time." I can't believe I have a preschooler, but I am so excited for her. Here are a couple of pictures of her first day. I wanted to take them outside, but it was too sunny for Makena, so we went in.
