Tyler was making noises in Makena's room and so I went to see what he was up too and this is what I found. He had pulled Makena's little table close to her dresser, climbed onto one of the chairs, onto the table, opened the dresser drawer and climbed inside. He was having a great time throwing out all the clothes. I was just so glad that the dresser didn't fall on him.

My Little Climber
Tyler has been climbing everything...and I mean EVERYTHING. He loves to climb up on our table, chairs, Makena's bunk bed, the ladder to the slide, couches, crib and the tv stand. And he is very good at it. I really don't mind that he climbs, and I like the fact that I can just let him climb up the ladder and go down the slide all by himself, I just don't like him climbing on my table. I am afraid he will fall off (and we have a high table) and hurt himself. So that is the one thing that I do take him off of when he climbs. It is now a game to him. He will climb onto the table and when I go to get him, he laughs and laughs and goes further away from me so I can't get him. Quite entertaining. Once he climbs onto something and can't get down, he will yell to me "ma, ma" until I come and get him. Fun to watch him learn new things!

First Soccer Game!
Today, Makena had her first game of soccer for the season. And let me say...SHE DID GREAT! I was a little worried that she wouldn't play because yesterday she told me she didn't want to go to soccer and that we already had practice and that was good enough. When she woke up this morning, she didn't complain at all about soccer, she ate, got dressed and was so excited to go!!
We got to the park a little early for her to practice and also to find the field that we would be playing on.
Makena was able to start the game and she stayed in for quite awhile. She ran towards the ball and even got to kick it! I told her that it didn't matter if she kicked the ball or not, just keep trying. And she did one amazing job. I was so proud of her! She is definitely not an aggressive person (which is fine by me) so it takes some encouragement for her to kick the ball. But she stayed with the boys and ran and did a SUPER JOB!
After the game was done she tells me, "I did a lot of running today, I need a break" and "Mom, there were like a hundred boys out there." It was cute. I told her that the next team she plays has girls on it and she was excited about that. When I asked if she wanted to play again, her response "YES!"

Makena taking a break.

Going for the kick!

MacKenzie going for the ball.

In their huddle...coming up with a game plan!

Telling the coach which goal was theirs!

Family Night
Tonight we decided to take the kids to Chuck-E-Cheese for dinner. They love this place and have such a fun time. We didn't tell them where we were going, we just told them it's time to go! When we got there, Makena was jumping up and down and her and Kali had the biggest smiles on their faces.
We were able to play a few games and ride rides before our dinner was ready. Then we ate and then we played some more.
It was a fun night!

This was funny...Jarel and I had been playing this game trying to hit the center for lots of tickets. We couldn't get it. Kali decided that she wanted a token to play and so she put in her token and not even looking, hit the button and what do you know...she hit the center and won 125 tickets. When the tickets kept coming out, she said "WOW, look at all my tickets. That is many." She was so excited and kept having everyone come see all of her tickets!

Makena and Tyler riding in a car...Tyler loved this ride.

Tyler and Makena riding in a jeep!

Tyler playing ski ball...he kept getting the ball and throwing it up the lane. He had so much fun throwing those balls.

We taught Makena the proper way earning lots of points while playing ski ball! Notice that she threw it right in the 50,000 points!! Good job Makena!

First Soccer Practice
We asked Makena this year if she wanted to play soccer and she said "yes" that she wanted to. We asked her cousin, MacKenzie, if she was interested in playing as well and she was. So I signed them up with the South Jordan city.
They had their first practice tonight. We went to the park, met her coach and the rest of her team, and then they had a great time kicking the ball. Their team is called "WILD THINGS."
A cute story while at practice: the coach was having the kids do a drill by kicking the ball one direction and then turning the ball around and kicking it back and scoring a goal. Makena's turn came and she kicked the ball down to the one end and the coach told her to "turn around", meaning to turn the ball around and kick it back. Well, Makena did what she was told and she turned around. She stood there and all the coach could do was laugh. But then they helped her get her ball and kick it back. It was so cute to see her.
She had a good time out there kicking the ball.

With her foot on the ball...getting ready for her turn to kick it down the field.

Tyler also had a great time there...with all the soccer balls...he didn't know which one he wanted more!

Kali loved the fact that practice is at the park that has toys for her to play on. She didn't care too much to watch the practice...she just wanted to play!

Lost...then Found!
On Sunday, when I went to pick up Kali from nursery...her teacher asked me a strange question. "Do you ever lose Kali at home?" I asked him what he meant and he said, "She is always disappearing from us. She sees a empty bucket/box or toy cupboard and she goes and climbs in them and shuts the door." I just laughed. She does like to hid in and under things at home, so it didn't surprise me.
Well tonight, as we were getting ready to say bedtime prayers, we went looking for Kali. We couldn't find her and kept calling her name. We eventually found her in my towel closet after hearing a faint giggle. So, I guess you can say that we lose our child in our own home! Next time her teacher asks me that question, I can give him a "YES" answer!!

Cardiologist
Today I took Tyler to PCMC in Riverton for his cardiology appointment to check out his heart murmur. When we got there, I had to take him to radiology to have them do 2 chest x-ray pictures. Tyler did not like that one bit. He cried the entire time and the 2 girls had to hold on to him tight to keep him still for the picture. Once I was able to come back into view and hold him, it was much better for him.
We then went up to cardiology and checked in. He had an EKG done and did really well at leaving the probes in place and on. But once the EKG was done, those stickers were coming off. He didn't want me to help out at all, so he ripped them off himself.
The doctor came in and gave a good listen to his heart and said that it sounded like a non significant heart murmur (but would get a second opinion) and that we shouldn't be worried about it. That made me feel better. I was worried that he would have to go and get an ultrasound done on his heart. And if that was the case, they would have to sedate him. The doctor said that it sounds loud because it is probably really small, and also Tyler is thinning out and so you can hear it more louder. The doctor then left to get another doctor to come and listen.
When she came in, her comment was "your, right!! We have a sick one here. *laugh, laugh*" Of course she was just kidding and was kind of surprised that I was even there with him because he looked so good. Tyler just sat on my lap and let the doctors take a good listen to his heart (they were quite impressed with that). The second doctor said the same thing as the first doctor. She also said that it would just be mean at this point to have him go and have the ultrasound done. So she said that if Tyler's primary doctor said that it is sounding even more different to come back in...but other than that, she didn't want to see us again!!! She said most likely it would close by the time he is 4 years old. Good news again.
Turned out to be a great visit. The doctor's were great and everything went well.

Tyler hooked up to the EKG

Pulling off those dang stickers

Still wanting to do it all by himself. I finally had to get the hard to reach ones off of him.

15 month checkup
On April 9th, we went to Tyler's 15 month well checkup. It went well and all in all he is growing great and doing well. When the doctor listened to his heart, he stopped and listened more closely. Tyler has always had a heart murmur...but this time it sounded different. So, the doctor wants me to take Tyler to the cardiologist to have them take a listen. He thinks it sounds louder because it is closing...I hope that is the case. We go on the 16th to PCMC to have his heart listened too.
His stats: weight is 25 pounds (50%) and height is 32.5 inches (90%).

Tyler was so tired, he was playing with toys in the hall and fell asleep!

Playing at the Park
Tonight I got canceled from work and so we decided to take the kids on a walk to the park and let them play. It ended up being soccer practice night at the park so a lot of the girls friends were there. They were excited about that. They had a great time running and climbing all over the place. It was a fun little outing.

Makena would climb up the ladder and then hold onto the bar and let go and swing. That was fun to watch her do that!

Kali climbing "up high" on the ladder.

Tyler climbing the stairs.

Makena all the way to the top of the ladder.

Kali loved climbing up this ladder. She could do it all by herself and climb up on the platform above.

Tyler getting ready to go down the slide. He would go face first on his belly.

Tyler walking towards the stairs to climb up and go down the slide again.

Makena finally mastered the rock wall. She tried all last year and just couldn't quite do it...but this year, SHE DID IT!! And she is so excited that she can do it.

Half way there...

Made it to the top!!!

Kali wanted her picture taken at the top of the rock wall as well.

Tyler and Jarel going down the slide! Tyler would smile the whole way down. He loved going down the slide.

Easter Weekend
*WARNING* this post has a lot of pictures!!!
We had a great Easter weekend. We had so many things going on...but we didn't mind one bit. I love the Easter holiday and what it means in my life. I am grateful for the life of the Savior and what He did for me and my family...that hopefully we can all return to Him one day.
We started Saturday morning at the South Jordan park for the Easter egg hunt. It was chilly that morning, but we just bundled and the kids enjoyed themselves.

Kali getting ready for the fire truck to honk its horn, so she could start getting eggs and candy.

Tyler putting candy in his bucket. He had about 20 pieces in there and I didn't have to help him at all. He was down on his hands and knees grabbing the candy and putting it in his bucket. At one point he had 2 pieces of candy and each hand, and wanting to pick up more, but couldn't. So, I had to remind him to put it in is bucket and then his hands were free and he could get more. It was so cute to watch him go.

Kali getting more candy. She was going for the twizzlers and also the tootsie rolls.

Kali taking a peek at what Tyler got.

Makena after the hunt. She got a lot and was glad she got so many peanut butter cups! Her favorite treat!

Gretchen, Kali, MacKenzie and Makena after the hunt. Good friends!!
After the egg hunt, we took the kids over to the Home Depot to build a craft project. They were able to build a butterfly house. Each of the girls got to build one and they can't wait to put them outside once it gets warmer and hoping butterflies will come visit.

Kali working on her butterfly house.

Tyler loved watching everyone using their hammers.

Makena working on her butterfly house. I have to start the nails for her, but she finishes hitting them into the wood.

Tyler decided that he needed to sit on the table and really get in on the action. He found a hammer and screw driver and didn't want to let them go. He was banging on the table with his tools.
We then went to Grandpa and Grandma Hathaway's house to dye Easter eggs and to go on an egg hunt and eat lunch. It was a fun time over there. We enjoy going over and spending time with them. They are such great parents/grandparents to us all!

Tyler really got into the whole dying egg thing. Once he realized he could throw the egg into the dye...he was in heaven. He kept saying "Ba" (ball) and throwing them. He didn't even mind getting his hands all wet and colored.

Tasting the finished product! Once he put it in his mouth, it was out pretty quick. But the funny thing was, he kept tasting it.

After we colored eggs, the kids were able to go on an Easter egg hunt. The Easter bunny hid all the eggs down stairs at Grandpa and Grandma's house. They thought that was pretty silly. They all went downstairs with their buckets and were searching for eggs and a bag that had their name on it. It was cute to see them look and finally get a smile when they found an egg with their name.

That Saturday night, we got out our Easter baskets and lined them up for the Easter bunny to hide them.
Easter morning was relaxing and fun. We had General Conference and so we didn't have to rush to church. Kali was the first one awake (no surprise) and went out into the front room. She noticed the baskets were all gone. I told her the Easter bunny hid them and she needed to go look for hers. She found Tyler's right away, but had to leave it where it was for Tyler to find.

That evening we went to my parent's house for dinner, an egg hunt, egg roll and to celebrate my dad's birthday. It was a great time. We always love going over there! Jarel didn't win the egg roll this year...he was pretty upset...but next year he says he is going to use a wooden egg to win!!
