Fast Asleep

Tyler went to bed tonight with his head on his pillow and all tucked in. When Jarel and I went into our room we found him like this! Tyler moves so much in his sleep. He falls out of his bed more nights than not. I hear him throughout the night (remember he is sleeping in our room while his room is "under construction") hitting his head on the wall or his bed. I turned him around and got him tucked into bed again...but in the morning, he was uncovered and his feet were sticking off the bed. So cute while he is asleep.
Hailey sleeps in our bed...it is just easier that way and I really don't mind. This little 2 feet person gets more bed than Jarel and I combined. She takes up half the bed! But I don't have to get my lazy butt out of bed during the night to feed her. I usually keep them in my bed until I am done nursing.

Half a Year!

These 6 months have gone fast. WOW! Six months old already. My little baby is growing up and getting so big. Her sleeping through the night is far from it. She has her days where she is up every 2-3 hours and wants to EAT. (And those days are getting more and more) I try and just give her, her pacifier but she doesn't want anything to do with that and will just wimper until I feed her and then she is right back to sleep. She likes her oatmeal cereal with fruit and as taken to carrots. She loves to move and wiggle. Eating while holding her has taken on a new meaning. My plate is about a foot in front of me so this little one doesn't grab my plate and throw it on the floor. She loves to bounce in her bouncer and she gets that thing a moving. So happy 95% of the time and always is willing to smile at everyone. So content and goes with the flow! Loves to laugh at her siblings especially Kali. Kali can crack anyone up, and Hailey has really taken a liking to Kali's crazy moves. She loves bathtime, being held, sleeping in our bed, putting everything in her mouth and kicking those little legs of hers. These next 6 months need to slow down just a bit!

Went to the doctor's today and her measurements are:
Height: 25.8 inches (60%)
Weight: 17.2 lbs. (75%)
Head: 17 inches (75%)

She got 3 shots today.

Swimming

Today, we took the kids swimming. Jarel had been working all day on the shelves for our basement, and the kids and I were somewhat of help to him. Jarel had one more room to do, but it was 2:00 and we wanted to get out of the house. We thought of things to do, but being cold outside, we decided to take them to the local swim center. They had such a fun time. This time we put Kali in a life vest! Kali and Tyler loved going on the lazy river and into the whirlpool. They would laugh as we were going around the whirlpool. Makena even got brave this time and with Dad's help (along with Hailey) went into the lazy river. Tyler loved going down the slide and throwing a ball in the pool. Kali loved the slide, jumping off the edge into the pool and loved the "big pool." Makena is so content to stay in the shallow area and play. She loved going low into the water, just up to her mouth! Hailey loved the pool. A huge warm bathtub for her. She was kicking, cooing, and splashing with her little hands. So cute to watch. Poor girl didn't even get a swimsuit to wear. We were in a hurry to go and I had her swimsuit somewhere downstairs but couldn't find it. So she got a onsie and plastic swim diaper. We had such a good time, but only got to swim for about an hour because they had to close the pool because someone had a major accident in the pool. I'm glad we were in the kiddie pool at that time and wasn't around it. They gave us a free pass to go back. The kids were excited about that!

Happy St. Patrick's Day

What a fun day we had today! St. Patrick's day was just a day when I wore green and tried pinching my siblings when they didn't have green on. Now, St. Patrick's day is more than just wearing green and trying not to get pinched. It is full of Leprechaun traps, pots of gold, green food, passing out goodies and it is a very fun day at the Hathaway home. Last night, Jarel and Kali and Tyler put together a Leprechaun trap. Makena didn't want anything to do with it because she was afraid it might actually catch a Leprechaun and she didn't want to catch a Leprechaun! But Jarel, Kali and Tyler wanted to catch one and they worked hard on their trap. They set up a box and put some tape on the floor, sticky side up, and put a M&M on the tape. This way, if the Leprechaun went under the box to get the M&M, he would get stuck on the tape. Next there was string attached to the fork that was holding up the box, and the the string was attached to the tape. So, when the Leprechaun got stuck on the tape, we knew he would try and wiggle his way off the tape and by doing this, he would pull the string, which would release the fork, causing the box to fall on top of him! It was a great plan and the kids thought for sure we would catch one. We also left a trail of treats leading up to the box! We also set out our black pots, hoping the Leprechaun would fill them with goodies and hide them for us to find in the morning. The kids went to sleep and this morning, to their amazement, the house was a mess. That pesky Leprechaun made a mess of our front room and kitchen. He opened up all the cupboards, threw all the kitchen towels all over the floor and turned the couch all around. Tyler went over to the trap to see if we caught us a Leprechaun, he didn't get too close to it, but looked and we didn't get one. The box was knocked over, treats were all gone, and no Leprechaun in sight. It was so fun to watch the kids faces as each one looked in the trap and looked at the "mess they made." Such a fun morning.
Then me and the kids set out to deliver our pots of gold to Grandpas and Grandmas. We first called Grandpa Hathaway, but he can be hard to track down some days. So we left his pot of gold at his house for a surprise when he got home. We then went to Grandpa Boyack's work and surprised him. He had no idea we were coming and he was very surprised. The kids love going to see Grandpa at work. Our next stop was Grandma Hathaway's work. We surprised her as well with a pot of gold and visited for a minute. Then off to Grandma Boyack's house. (Of course I forgot to take a picture with her, bummer.) She didn't have to work today, so we surprised her at home. We played some games, did some puzzles then went to lunch with Grandma. It was a nice surprise for us to go to lunch!
We came home and the kids watched a movie, then played with their friend and jumped on the tramp and played with make-up.
For dinner we had green food. (it was hard to do green food this morning because the kids got up at different times and some already ate with Jarel before I got up) We had green pancakes, green hashbrowns, green strawberry smoothies and sausage. We gobbled it up then watched a TV show that we like and then the kids went to bed. It was a super fun day and I look forward to St. Patrick's day each year! It is becoming one of my most favorite days out of the year. Just a fun day!

All hoping to catch a Leprechaun...except Makena!

Jarel and Hailey. Hailey was wearing green earlier today, but she had a major blowout in them and they had to be washed.

This picture makes me smile. She is such a funny girl and can never just smile in pictures. She has to be doing something funny.

Kali, Kali, Kali

Today at church, I had just finished feeding Hailey and was standing in the hall talking with a friend. One member of the primary presidency came to me and told me that Kali was hiding in the microphone stand and that she wouldn't come out and that this was the third time. She even told me that she tried bribing Kali with a special treat but Kali told her that she didn't want it and she would do whatever she wanted. I went into the primary room and tho and behold, she was in the microphone stand. There is just enough room for her, when they pull out the steps for her to hide in. They didn't want to pull her out, afraid of hurting her. And the president told me that one time she had no idea Kali was in there and she was pushing in the steps and hit Kali. So after talking with Kali, she finally came out to me. It was awesome! I couldn't laugh in front of Kali, giving her the impression she can keep doing that, but it was actually pretty funny to see her in there. Nothing she does surprises me anymore. This bundle of energy is just that...a bundle of energy. She has the biggest heart and tries her best to do good...she just gets bored and has a hard time sitting still. She is always on the move. She will come up to me on occasion and tell me things like: "Mom, I try my best so you don't get mad at me." or "Mom, will you come watch me go potty so I don't pull the toilet paper all the way off so you will be proud of me." So...to my sweet Kali, please try hard to not hide in the microphone stand again!!!!

Rolled Over

On Friday, March 11th, Miss Hailey rolled from back to front for the first time!

New Favorite

Tyler's new favorite thing for breakfast is "man-cakes." He loves these things. I ask him what he wants, and he says "man-cakes" and runs around the house asking everyone else if they want some "man-cakes." One day his "man-cakes" will turn into "pancakes" so I will enjoy these "man-cakes" while I can!

They come from DINOSAURS

Today at lunch, Makena was asking about fruits and vegetables. She wanted to know how to tell if it is a fruit or vegetable. So I was telling her that a lot of fruits grow on trees, fruits have seeds in them, fruits are sweeter than vegetables. Then I told her some examples: oranges, apples, peaches, bananas, watermelon. Then we talked about vegetables and told her some examples of those. Then she asked about hamburgers and what that was. I told her meat and then she pointed out that pig is meat too. Then I asked her about chicken nuggets (she was eating those for lunch.) Here is our conversation:
Mom: "Makena, do you know what chicken nuggets are?"
Makena: "They look like they grow because it looks like they have little seeds in them. I think a fruit."
Mom: "No, they are a meat. Do you know what animal they come from?"
Makena: "Ummmm"
Mom: "Think of the name, CHICKEN NUGGETS."
Makena: "I think they come from dinosaurs!"
Mom: (laughing)..."what?...they come from chickens."
Makena: "But they look like dinosaurs!"

We get the dino nuggets! And yes, they look like dinosaurs. I told her that they take the chicken meat and make them into dinosaurs. She still is not believing me on that one! The minds of children! Love it!

Bounce...Bounce

Today we put Hailey in the jumper for the first time. She loved it and had a great time. When we took her out, she kept turning her head to try and see the jumper. She wanted back in. I put her back in and she played for about 15 minutes! It is so nice when my kids can go in this. It gives me about 15 minutes to get stuff done around the house with 2 hands, instead of 1 (from carrying them)!

Demolition

We have been working on getting our basement finished. And back in December, we cleaned out the storage room downstairs so that we could finish the room with sheetrock, mud and paint. We put all of our "crap" into Tyler's room and the 3 kids shared the girls' room. In January, we noticed that there was a bubble in the girls' wall that was obviously caused by water. We knew there was a leak somewhere. We called our insurance, who referred us to a company to come out and look. They came out and started to do their investigation as to why and if our home owners insurance would cover it or not. In the mean time, the storage room got finished and I was so excited to get Tyler's room opened again and have my 2 bedrooms back to "normal." I went in to see where to start with all our "crap" to move back downstairs and looked at Tyler's wall and noticed that the paint looked like it was running down the wall. I couldn't believe it. There was another leak into Tyler's room. It was heartbreaking. We got his room cleared out and saw that the leak went about halfway down the wall. In the girls' room, it is all the way down to the carpet. We called the company again, and they came out and looked at Tyler's room and came up with the conclusion that the leak went from the roof (from an ice dam) into the girls' then across the beam into Tyler's room. There was no insulation in one part of the attic that the builders didn't do and so there was no stopping this water from flowing along the beam.
Last Tuesday the company called me up and asked if one of the workers could come out and get started on the demolition. He came out, took apart Tyler's wall (I'm just glad it didn't destroy Jarel's precious Cowboy Star) and then moved to the girls' room. There he discovered there was mold and that this leak had been going on for quite sometime. So he taped up the area and left for the day. We haven't seen them since. Both rooms are boarded up and can't be used. We have called several times only to get a "I will call you tomorrow" and they never do. I called at their office on Monday and got the same answer. It is getting so frustrating and I want this done and these rooms put back together. Yesterday I called again and finally was able to talk with the guy who came out and he told me, "Sorry I haven't gotten back to you, it has been really busy here. We are trying to figure out a way to present this to your insurance to get it covered. I will get back to you by the latest the beginning of next week." So, we are at least 2 more weeks of not having those rooms to use. Frustrating once again. Makena and Kali are sleeping in the front room and Tyler and Hailey are sleeping in our room. Everyone is staying up later than usual and getting up earlier than usual and with us all just in the front room/kitchen area...makes for some long days. There are days when we are all cranky and are at eachother. We try to get out and do stuff and stay busy with projects, cleaning, reading, etc...but there is only so much you can do and we will be so glad when those rooms are back to "normal." We have toys in the garage, in the hall, in the front room, pretty much everywhere. It is driving me crazy, because, I like that area of my house clean. And I can't seem to keep it that way when that is now the kids play room. So for now, we will all try to be happy and nice and not yell and all play nice with eachother (me especially)!
