The Big 10 Months!

Hailey turned 10 months yesterday! Some of her accomplishments over the past month: She can now suck through a straw (7/22/11), she can walk on the floor holding onto the couch (7/28/11), she is sleeping in a crib (7/26/11), she isn't eating through the night anymore (7/22/11) and she learned to climb stairs (7/13/11)!
Foods she enjoys: chicken nuggets, hot dogs, peaches, starburst, ice-cream, bananas, Fruit Loops cereal, yogurt, fruit snacks, pieces of ham, and pizza. There are more...but those are the ones I can think of now!
She has gone on her first camping trip (7/18-7/20/11), has watched her first fireworks (7/2/11), had her first babysitter (besides Grandpas and Grandmas) (7/22/11), and watched her first parade (7/1/11)!

Loud Noises

A couple of nights ago, Kali came into my room during the night saying she was scared to sleep downstairs. (My kids know that if they are ever scared during the night to come into my room and we have a spot set up for them to sleep on. We go on spurts where the spot is hardly used, then we go on spurts where the spot is used multiple nights in a row.) I asked Kali what made her scared and she told me, "Makena is making loud noises and they are scaring me." I had to chuckle...Makena snores at night!
The next morning Kali asked if Makena would make loud noises again...and I told Kali that she would try not too and she will try not to scare you again!

HELP!!!!!

If Hailey could talk, she probably would have been saying "HELP!" I was in the kitchen and I heard grunting down the hall and Hailey's little "UGH" sound. I looked down and she was pinned under this car. She was trying with all her might to get out from under it. Her head and legs were up and then she would lay back down and try and wiggle free! So funny how something so light to me, can be so heavy to her.

1st Grade!!

Today was Makena's first full day of first grade!! (She met her teacher yesterday for a little 45 minute meeting) Makena hasn't been too excited to go to school...she loves school, she just didn't want to go ALL day. She kept telling me, "but Mom, I will miss you." This morning when I woke her up, she got up and got ready and was all smiles. We packed her lunch and off we went to school. We got there and waited in her line, I gave her a hug and told her to have a great day and I will see her after school. And off she went with her class and teacher into school!
It was a different day for me. I'm not used to having one of my kids gone all day. I kept looking at the clock saying, "wow, she still has 5 hours" or "it is only 12:00." It felt like the day went a long time. (I know it will take some getting used too) But come 3:25 we picked her up from school. I asked her how her day went and she said, "It was good. I got to eat lunch there and have recess. I can't wait until tomorrow!" So it was a good day for her. She is growing up fast...I love watching her learn and have fun with friends, just wish time would slow down...just a little!

Pioneer Day

I love the month of July!
It is a month full of fun, fireworks, camping, splash parks, family, friends and just a fun month.
After camping this year, Jarel had to work 2 days and then he got a 3 day weekend for Pioneer day. It was nice!
We celebrated by going to dinner and ice cream with Grandma and Grandpa Hathaway. Then we went to Grandpa and Grandma Boyack's for playing with cousins and doing fireworks. It was a good little firework show that we enjoyed! (Saturday)
We also organized our storage rooms, finished putting up hooks and toliet paper holder in our bathroom, put in a new garbage disposal in our kitchen sink, cleaned out Hailey's room trying to get it ready for us to paint, and we stayed up late every night playing!
We went to Grandma and Grandpa Hathaway's house for dinner and to let the kids play in the water (Monday). They had a good time getting all wet. Jarel, Shirley and I also had a little Mario game playing! Always a good time.
So...this pioneer weekend was very nice!

I love her spunk!

I was putting Hailey's baby clothes away (ones she has outgrown) and Kali came across this Halloween headband. I was upstairs when she found it. Kali came upstairs and asked me..."Mom, what do I look like?" I said something like, a silly girl. She said, "No, I'm a pirate!" She sported the headband to Geckos for dinner, Ikea for a quick stop and then to my parents! Kali is awesome! I love her for her go get them attitude, full of life attitude, and for her own little personality!! She is constantly making us laugh!

Mom's Helper

Hailey has a new found interest....unloading the dishwasher EVERY time I open it up. She hears the dishwasher opening from afar and books it into the kitchen to "help" unload it. She loves the silverware and plates!

Annual Camping Trip

The past 3 days we spent up at Redman camping with family. We look forward to this camping trip every year. It is nice to get up in the mountains and have a good time. We decided to camp at a different site this year then we normally do because we didn't want to be by the river this year. Too scary with all the little kids. This camp site turned out great. Lots of trees to shade us and to keep us dry during the rain (We haven't had a camping trip in a long time with rain). On one of our walks, Kali noticed that her earring was missing. I thought we would never find it. Besides we didn't even know where she lost it at. As we were walking back to camp, Jarel said maybe she lost it by the hammock...it was a good thought, even if it was there would we be able to find it...with all the dirt, rocks and pine needles. We got back and I went over and bent down and noticed a shiny spot and there was the back of the earring, then I moved some pine needles around and there was the front of the earring. Wow, we found it! An answer to a simple prayer. I didn't want to have to go get her ear poked again. We sterilized it and put it back in her ear. It didn't happen just once, but a second time and we found it again! Kali would wrap herself up in the hammock and I'm guessing the string would just go around the earring and when Kali got off the hammock, the earring would come out as well. After the 2nd time of having it put back in her ear...she was much more careful on the hammock. We enjoyed good food, taking walks to spot deer (not too many this year, but we did see a doe with 2 fawns), feeding ground hogs, walking around Silver Lake, feeding the ducks, going to Brighton store for a treat, playing on the hammock, sitting by the campfire at night, roasting marshmallows and hotdogs, playing with cousins, cool days and nights and just taking a break from the routine of life. It is always so fun to go up there! Thanks Dad and Mom for planning this for us!

Grandma and Grandpa put together a string maze for the kids. They each had a different colored string strung throughout the trees and rocks. They then followed their string until they got their surprise. They had a great time with this!

The fam with Uncle Bill...It was a surprise to see him up there. He knew we were going camping but didn't know the exact dates. So he thought he would come up to walk around the lake and to just see if we would be there. It was perfect timing...we got on the boardwalk at about the exact time and he spotted us! It was fun to see him and spend time with him. He pointed out stuff that we hadn't seen before.
