Happy Halloween

We had a great Halloween!! Hope all of you did as well. We started the day by going with Grandpa and Grandma Hathaway to a trunk-or-treat. The girls had a great time going from trunk to trunk and collecting candy and prizes. Once Kali got what was going on...she didn't want to stop. And it didn't take her long to put a sucker in her mouth. We spent time over there visiting and playing with cousins. After lunch, we went to Grandpa and Grandma Boyack's. They had a special surprise for the kids. The kids enjoy going trick-or-treating at their house. We played, visited and of course had to see Sadie. That night, I took the girls out trick-or-treating around the neighborhood. Makena told me that she wanted to "go a long way" and to "go to all the houses." We did go farther than last year...and when we got home, Makena was satisfied with all the houses that we went to. As we were going to the last 15 houses or so...Kali had had enough. I would carry her from house to house and at some, she told me, "I stay with you." So, Makena would go up to the houses and get a treat...and when Kali realized what was going on, and that she wasn't getting a treat like Makena, she would then tell me, "Me trick-or-treat", then get down and walk up to get her treat. They had a blast this year.

Halloween Party

Last night we had a little "Halloween Party" with Grandpa and Grandma Boyack. It was a lot of fun and a great time by all. We painted pumpkins, had a candy corn game, won prizes by getting matches at the memory game, had a donut eating contest and made little witches. Halloween is a fun time of year...thanks for coming over!!

Zoo Trip

Thursday we took a trip up to the Hogle Zoo with Grandma Boyack and Molly. It was a fun trip. The zoo wasn't crowded at all...and the animals were very active. The animals were just being fed while we were there. Now is a great time to visit the zoo!

Another picture of baby Zuri...we love watching her.

Mom and Baby eating their breakfast.

Tyler...always smiling!

We love getting out of the house and going on these outings...and it is always wonderful when we get to go with people we love!

Pumpkins...Pumpkins...and more Pumpkins!!

This year we planted 6 mounds of pumpkin plants....and got PLENTY of pumpkins this year. I couldn't believe how many grew. We have given some away to family and neighbors and still had 46 to put on our front porch. The girls had a great time collecting them all and setting them all on the porch. It was fun to see them try and carry the "big" pumpkins...only to have them say, "Mom, I need help...I will carry the "baby" pumpkins."

Here the girls are holding up their "baby" pumpkins...sitting on our garden wall.

The 3 of us out in our very own pumpkin patch.

Kali trying to carry the big pumpkin to put on the porch. She got to the edge of the wall before passing it off to me.

Crawling

Here is another little video of Tyler crawling. I took him to his 9 month doctor visit yesterday and the stats: 23 lbs (75%) and 30 inches (90%). The doctor said he is doing well and can now eat anything except peanut butter, nuts and honey.

CALIFORNIA

We had the opportunity to go to California Oct. 9-18!! We went with the whole Boyack family and had such a great time. It was fun to spend with week with family! Here are some highlights off the trip:

We spent Friday and Saturday with Courtney, Kim, Ashten, Hayden, Eathen, Allicen and Jacksen. It was so fun to see them and be able to spend time with them. They were also able to come to a couple of parks with us. Thanks so much for having us! We had a great time with you.

The kids playing in the water

Tyler in a little car...he loved being in there.

Their dog...Barbosa. Makena loves this dog and talks about him all the time.

Cute Allicen.

Jacksen wearing Allicen's underwear. It was so cute to watch him walk around with these on.

We also went to the San Diego Zoo. This zoo is so big, yet so cool. It was fun to walk around and see animals that we don't have at our zoo here.

Panda Bear.

These hippos were fun to watch swim...the kids loved watching them.

They have a petting zoo there where the kids could pet bunnies, sheep and goats. This was a highlight of the zoo for the girls.

Makena and Allicen on the bus. It was easier to use the bus to get to the animals that you want to see.

Cute Koala.

One day while walking down town Capistrano...we came across a park and let the kids play there.

Makena having a great time.

We went to Sea World 2 times during the week.

Kali touching a dolphin. She was scared to death, but finally touched it.

Makena touching a dolphin. She was so afraid, she had a tight grip on Jarel. But she was brave and touched the dolphin.

We stayed at a beach home on Capistrano Beach. I did that growing up before, this was a first for Jarel and the kids. It is so fun to just walk outside the door and have the sand and ocean right there. We liked walking along the ocean in the mornings. We saw a seal and some dolphins one morning and also had the opportunity to see pelicans diving into the water to catch fish. The girls loved being able to dig and get dirty and wet whenever they wanted. I went boogey boarding a couple of times. Just fun to be there on the beach.

Tyler and Kali playing in the sand.

Jarel burying Makena in the sand.

Tyler was so happy being outside.

Uncle Jacob buried Kali in the sand...he tried hard to keep Kali buried, but she escaped every time.

Gretchen and Makena by the fire. We had a hot dog roast one night on the beach. That was so much fun.

We went to Disneyland and California Adventures for 1 day.

Disneyland was all decorated for Halloween. This was on main street. It was fun to see all the decorations and all the characters in their Halloween costumes.

Jarel and Kali on the tea cups.

Mickey and Makena...the girls did not like the characters this year. (this picture was only caught because Mickey surprised Makena) Makena and Kali only wanted to look at the characters but not get close to them at all. Tyler didn't care, he loved Goofy and Pluto.

Kali and Makena being sprinkled with fairy dust. They got to make a wish.

It was a very fun vacation. Great memories and experiences. Thanks Dad and Mom for a wonderful time. We love you!!
