Feeling better and showing off her bunny the nurse brought in because the nurse told Kali "No one should be in the hospital 10 days before their birthday…so here is a special surprise."
Last night I took Kali into instacare because she was really complaining of stomach pain on the right side. She had been complaining about it for the last couple days, but it was off and on complaining. One minute she would be playing and the next she would be telling me it hurt. Finally last night, she was really complaining about it, so I took her to Instacare. The doctor examined her and said it was a possible bladder infection, but since she was saying it hurt really bad over the appendix, he said he wasn't going to chance it by just giving us antibiotics and send us home. He told us we needed to get up to Primary Children's hospital right then to have it looked at. He was thinking a possible appendicitis. So about 9:45 at night, we were heading up to the hospital. Jarel was at home with the other kids, but when the doctor told me to get up there right away, I felt like I couldn't wait for one of our parents to get over to the house and for me to pick up Jarel. So I picked up Molly (since she knew the way up to the hospital) on the way and off we went. We got up there and they got Kali checked in. The first resident doctor that came in and did an initial exam said she didn't think it was an appendicitis, but probably a bladder infection. They said they wanted to repeat the urine test that they had done at Instacare and do an intensive study on it. The main doctor came in and examined her too and pretty much couldn't believe we were there and that they other doctor sent us up there instead of just treating her for a bladder infection. So we waited for the urine test to come back and sure enough it was a bladder infection. Glad she didn't need surgery, but a little bugged because on Tuesday we went to the Instacare thinking she had a bladder infection or strep and they tested for strep but ignored my thinking it was a UTI. I wish they would have tested her then so they would have been able to treat her for it before it got this worse. But I am glad we were able to get her taken care of and am grateful there are hospitals available that we can take our kids too and they can help them. Kali told me right before we were leaving, "This is the BEST NIGHT EVER!! I got a bracelet with my name so you know who I am (the other day I called her Hailey and she told me that she needed a name tag that said Kali so I could get it right, so this bracelet was so special to her), I got a blanket, a bunny and I can still go camping tomorrow!" So glad she saw the silver lining of a long night! Love this girl and grateful she was okay. We got home about 2:00 in the morning. She slept until 8:00 but got up and went to school. Later today we will be going camping and we are excited. |
