I met her not long after my family moved to Riverton, 18 years ago. I don't remember the first time I saw her or spoke to her (and that doesn't really matter), but I do remember the fun times I had with her.
Some memories of her: While she was living in Riverton, I remember going to Hogi Yogi all the time. That was her favorite sandwich shop to go to for lunch. We would always get a sandwich and then she would insist that we get an ice-cream. We would just talk and have a good time.
Another memory is the many time me and my brother or dad would go over to help with her yard. Either plowing snow, raking leaves, or mowing the lawn. We would try and sneak over and do it without her knowing, but sooner or later, she would see us out her window and come out. After we were done, she always invited us into her house for a drink and a peanut butter bar. And then she would try and pay us. We would always refuse the money, but she would somehow put it in one of our hands. But when she wasn't looking, the money was always put back on her table or counter and we would say our goodbyes and leave. No sooner when we got home, the phone would ring with her being "really mad" at us for leaving the money that she had given us. She hated that we did this...but we didn't care. We weren't there doing it for the money, we were doing it because she was our friend!!
She always would have a smile on her face when you saw her. She was in my church ward and she would always come up and give me a hug. I had many visits with her just going to her house and seeing if she was alright and just to chat for a few minutes, which always turned into hours.
When she moved up to Logan to live with her son, I didn't get to see her as much. But the times that I was able to go up there, we would visit and then we would go to either Sizzler or Sue Casa mexican place. She loved those places. When I couldn't go visit, I looked forward to our phone calls. I will miss those very much, not to hear her voice! She would always ask the same questions or tell me the same things week after week, but she would always end with a "love you."
These are just a few of the wonderful memories/fun times I had with her.
Sis Beck, you were one amazing friend. You taught me much. I will miss you but know that we will be reunited again!!
The last picture that I have of her. This was taken back in 2007 when Kali was just a couple of months old.
