Easter Weekend

*WARNING* this post has a lot of pictures!!!

We had a great Easter weekend. We had so many things going on...but we didn't mind one bit. I love the Easter holiday and what it means in my life. I am grateful for the life of the Savior and what He did for me and my family...that hopefully we can all return to Him one day.

We started Saturday morning at the South Jordan park for the Easter egg hunt. It was chilly that morning, but we just bundled and the kids enjoyed themselves.

Kali getting ready for the fire truck to honk its horn, so she could start getting eggs and candy.

Tyler putting candy in his bucket. He had about 20 pieces in there and I didn't have to help him at all. He was down on his hands and knees grabbing the candy and putting it in his bucket. At one point he had 2 pieces of candy and each hand, and wanting to pick up more, but couldn't. So, I had to remind him to put it in is bucket and then his hands were free and he could get more. It was so cute to watch him go.

Kali getting more candy. She was going for the twizzlers and also the tootsie rolls.

Makena after the hunt. She got a lot and was glad she got so many peanut butter cups! Her favorite treat!

Gretchen, Kali, MacKenzie and Makena after the hunt. Good friends!!

After the egg hunt, we took the kids over to the Home Depot to build a craft project. They were able to build a butterfly house. Each of the girls got to build one and they can't wait to put them outside once it gets warmer and hoping butterflies will come visit.

Tyler loved watching everyone using their hammers.

Makena working on her butterfly house. I have to start the nails for her, but she finishes hitting them into the wood.

Tyler decided that he needed to sit on the table and really get in on the action. He found a hammer and screw driver and didn't want to let them go. He was banging on the table with his tools.

We then went to Grandpa and Grandma Hathaway's house to dye Easter eggs and to go on an egg hunt and eat lunch. It was a fun time over there. We enjoy going over and spending time with them. They are such great parents/grandparents to us all!

Tyler trying to eat an egg!

Tyler really got into the whole dying egg thing. Once he realized he could throw the egg into the dye...he was in heaven. He kept saying "Ba" (ball) and throwing them. He didn't even mind getting his hands all wet and colored.

Tasting the finished product! Once he put it in his mouth, it was out pretty quick. But the funny thing was, he kept tasting it.

Tyler trying to see how many eggs he could fit into the cup. He had 3 in there at one point.

After we colored eggs, the kids were able to go on an Easter egg hunt. The Easter bunny hid all the eggs down stairs at Grandpa and Grandma's house. They thought that was pretty silly. They all went downstairs with their buckets and were searching for eggs and a bag that had their name on it. It was cute to see them look and finally get a smile when they found an egg with their name.

He knew exactly what to do with the eggs...put them in his bucket!

Makena beginning the hunt. She always likes to pose and smile for the camera. Cute girl!

Kali tasting some candy. Once she found an egg...she wanted to see what was inside and make sure it tasted good!

Tyler with his mouth full of candy!

We also played outside. Just a cute picture of Tyler digging.

That Saturday night, we got out our Easter baskets and lined them up for the Easter bunny to hide them.

Easter morning was relaxing and fun. We had General Conference and so we didn't have to rush to church. Kali was the first one awake (no surprise) and went out into the front room. She noticed the baskets were all gone. I told her the Easter bunny hid them and she needed to go look for hers. She found Tyler's right away, but had to leave it where it was for Tyler to find.

Kali getting ready to look for her basket.

Kali looking for her basket. She kept wanting to go back to Tyler's basket and take his, but I told her that her basket was somewhere and she needed to keep looking. At one point she said, crying, "the Easter bunny took my basket." After that, I pointed her in the right direction to locate her basket!

Kali finding her basket in the vacuum closet. She was so excited to finally have her candy!!

Kali showing me her basket and what she got.

Holding up a sticker that the Easter bunny gave her. She was thrilled to have a whole booklet of stickers.

Happy, Happy Boy!!

Sad, Sad Boy!! We took away his basket so we could have breakfast. Mean parents.

Tyler tasting pop rocks for the first time. He didn't quite know what to think of it.

Kali liked them and this is her showing me that they pop in her mouth.

Makena looking high for her basket. She knew from last year that they Easter bunny is sneaky...she she didn't want to miss any cupboards.

The last cupboard that she opened had her basket it in. She was so excited that she found it.

Her reaction when she bit into an egg and noticed that it was peanut butter.

He thought he was pretty funny!

That evening we went to my parent's house for dinner, an egg hunt, egg roll and to celebrate my dad's birthday. It was a great time. We always love going over there! Jarel didn't win the egg roll this year...he was pretty upset...but next year he says he is going to use a wooden egg to win!!

Easter was a great weekend!
