We got to go to the assembly and see her be presented with her AWARD and hear what Mrs. Thayer wrote about Makena. Makena got some restaurant gift certificates, a star cookie and got her picture taken with the principle that will be put up in the school's hallway so everyone can see it.
She was a little nervous when she found out she had to go stand in front of the crowd, but once they called her name, she jumped right up and headed up front with a HUGE SMILE on her face. After they read what Mrs. Thayer said about her, she looked at me, had the BIGGEST SMILE on her face and PROUDLY went and sat by the principle for her picture. It was AWESOME and a PROUD MOM MOMENT!!
Here is what Mrs. Thayer wrote about her: Makena is a very soft spoken child with a huge heart. She sits next to some students that are struggling in different areas and without being asked, she helps these students in many areas. If she sees someone at her table that doesn't know where to write their name, you will quietly see her pointing to the correct place and then sitting down and doing her work. I've also noticed her helping children count or sound out words. She doesn't ask for praise or a prize box, she is simply a very caring individual and I am so proud of her. Makena, thank you for being so caring.

That is so neat for her and for sure a proud parent moment. Makena, is so caring and what a perfect award for her. I am so glad she and Alyssa are such good friends. We love her!
ReplyDeleteLove the pics of Tyler with the hats so funny. He will LOVE looking at them when he is Quinn's age :)
Tyler looks so grown up with his hair. It is amazing how they go from baby to little boy after a few inches of hair are gone :)
