Every year at Daybreak Elementary, they put on a Fun Run for a fundraiser. This is Makena's 2nd year doing it and she has been looking forward to it for quite some time. And she was so excited this year because she got to run in the neighborhood (last year she just got to run around the school because she was off track when they did the fun run in the neighborhood). They run right past our house, which is so fun for us to watch. We get our chairs out and cheer the kids as they run past!
Jarel was lucky enough to get off work and he got to run with Makena. Makena, needless to say, was thrilled that Dad got to run with her. It was a cool morning, but Makena was ready to go. She got her running shoes on, her Fun Run t-shirt and a big smile on her face.
Grandpa and Grandma Hathaway, Grandma Boyack and Molly came to watch her run. Makena did great (Jarel a bit wore out...). They run 2.2 miles from the school then through the neighborhoods and back to the school.
Jarel said that Makena ran about 80% of the race. Way to go Makena and Dad!!!!
