This weekend Jarel and I celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary.
Our day started out with painting in the basement. We got the 2nd coat of pain put on the play room! The basement is coming and we are working so hard to get it done.
Then we went to the mall where Kali and I got our hair cut. My mom gave us a gift certificate to use at a salon and it was nice to go and have them pamper us for 30 minutes. Then we surprised our kids with a night at a hotel. I packed their stuff during the day when they weren't paying attention and when we got to the hotel Makena asked what she was going to sleep in and swim in. We told her she would just have to use the clothes she came with. But was then thrilled when I pulled out a new swimsuit for her and showed the kids that I had packed their stuff. Kali was glad her little puppy had accompanied her on this trip. We swam in the pool. Kali was a little fish out there. Put on a life vest and off she goes. Makena was more reserved and opted to spend her time on the steps or in the hot tub where it wasn't deep. She is very afraid of the water and I took her out in the deep end for a minute to try and help show her that I wasn't going to let her drown and that she just needed to hold on and she would be just fine. She didn't like it and wanted to go back to the steps. Tyler liked going out in the deep part but only if he held onto one of us really tight. Hailey loved the water and was happy as can be. We had a blast playing in the pool and it was nice to be the only ones in there! Then we went for dinner to the hotel's restaurant. It was great food! I would go back just to eat their food. We ordered chips and salsa and waited and waited for them to bring them to us. I thought "Chips and Salsa can't take this long to bring out." But when they came out, I soon realized why it took so long. They had made the chips right there and they were very hot and yummy. Tyler couldn't get enough of those chips! We then had a little pajama party that night. We got treats, but didn't even touch them because we ate dinner so late and the kids were exhausted from all the playing, they were asleep before 9:00 (except Hailey). In the morning, we went for breakfast and then hung around riding the "alligator" (as said by Kali...elevator) many times going to get ice, treats and just to go to the top of the hotel to look outside. We were not prepared for the snow that fell in the morning. We had flip flops on and no jackets or coats. Saturday was a nice warm day here and then the snow came. When we left the hotel, we were running to the van in the falling blizzard snow! The kids were laughing, some complaining that their clothes were wet but overall a great weekend.
Someone asked why we took our kids with us on our anniversary...well, they are a part of us! I couldn't leave them right now...they are little and still want to be with us. One day they would rather stay home...so I will enjoy the time they want to come and hang out with the parents. The night would have been boring without them. I probably would have slept all night, and not had to wake up with Hailey, or wake up to 2 kids falling out of beds (Makena and Kali) and not have listened to them snore or laugh. And that would not have been fun at all!!
So to Jarel...wow, 7 years! What a fun 7 years they have been. We have had our ups and downs but so glad that when we have our downs...they turn into ups! You amaze me with your hard work for me and the kids. You always put us first in everything you do! Even sharing your cupcakes with the kids! I love the little things that make me smile or laugh everyday. You are the best and so glad I got my best friend by my side!
