Swimming Lessons

With Makena off track now, I thought swimming lessons would be fun/a good thing for the girls. When I told Kali and Makena I was going to sign them up, Kali was super excited and Makena screamed. Once Makena calmed down and I assured her that they were not going to throw her into the water, she half willingly agreed to take the lessons (I want her to be more comfortable with the water).
Today was there first lesson. They both did great. Kali didn't want the water to go past her chin, but she blew bubbles with her mouth, got to ride on her teacher's back across the pool, got to float on her back and go down the orange slide. When she got out of the pool she came over got her towel and asked "Did you see me swimming, Mom?" She had a terrific day and can't wait to go again.
Makena did awesome. This took huge courage for her and I couldn't be more prouder of her. She did everything her teacher asked of her. She was terrified and held on tight to her teacher, but she gave it all she had and went into the deeper end and was trying her best at swimming. She liked being on the steps or holding onto something to feel more secure. What she did today took all the courage she could give. She did great! Makena even stated she wanted to come back on Thursday.
