Happy Halloween

What a fun Halloween weekend we had! Full of candy, grandparents, friends, costumes and games!
Halloween day started out with 2 kids having Halloween activities at the same time. Luckily Jarel was able to work out his schedule so he could go in late, so that our kids had a parent there to cheer them on. Jarel went to Makena's school to watch the Halloween parade, while I went to Kali's preschool program. Makena was so excited to have Dad come watch her. Kali's program was cute to watch. Kali knew all the songs and sang so well.
After I picked up Kali from preschool, we went to lunch with Grandma Hathaway then a quick stop at home, then off to help in Makena's class for her Halloween party. I was in charge of making pumpkins with stickers and playing BINGO. The party was a success and the kids all had a great time. Even Kali, Tyler and Hailey got in on the fun and were able to participate.
Once the party was done, we got Makena, went home and hurried and did the "required homework" for the day and then I made a delicious dinner!!! And then we waited for Jarel to get home. The kids were so excited to go trick-or-treating and couldn't wait until Jarel got home. I decided to take the kids out this year, because it was a warm night...and who knows what next year will bring. If it is cold next year, it will be Jarel's turn!!!
We were out for about 2 hours, Tyler was done after 10 houses, but the girls wanted to keep going. We met up with a friend. Makena was so excited to take this little friend around with her. She held his hand up to every house (he is 3 years old) and they were chatting and just little buddies that night. After the 2 hours, I told Makena we would drop off Kali and Tyler at home and then her and Jarel could go out again if she wanted. She wanted to, until I mentioned to Jarel about a white van parked outside that had scary dressed up people. I think that changed Makena's mind really fast, and she ended up staying inside the rest of the night. They got plenty of candy. I love Halloween...a favorite day/night for me. It turned out be be a great day!!
Makena's school parade. Makena didn't get too many pictures, I sent Jarel with my little camera and I forgot he would have a moving target. I should have given him the bigger camera to use.
Playing BINGO at her school party

Reading books before her program began. Notice the purple "pointed shoes?" Kali had to borrow them from Grandma Boyack because witches had "pointed shoes!"

Kali was very animated and sang really well

Kali did not want to eat the finger because there was red on it!
Not so amused by the dinner I prepared for her...Makena liked the eyeballs, not the finger or teeth and had to unwrap her mummy to eat the mummy!
Loved the dinner and ate it all up!!
Our Halloween dinner: Mummy hotdogs, eyeballs (olives), finger (string cheese), blood for the mummy (ketchup) and Monster teeth (apples with almonds). I thought it would be fun to make something different this year...all I got was complaining of how it looked gross and they didn't want to eat the finger that had red on it, the teeth didn't taste good and the mummy wrap was not good either. Even Jarel said, "if it looks disgusting, I'm probably not going to eat it." (He ate it but couldn't look at the finger) Man, you try and make it fun...next year I'm sticking with pizza!!!
Before going out Trick or Treating

Running up to the houses to get some treats

After about 10 houses, Tyler was done, he had what he wanted, and he rode in the stroller the rest of the way!
