Bald for Bailey

Before Picture

Tyler had one of his favorite primary teachers "Sis Beverley" shave his head.

They buzzed him right down the middle! Then they buzzed off the rest.

After picture! 2 handsome guys

Getting ready to go and visit Marc

Marc and Hailey

My 4 baldies!!
This past Saturday we had the chance to go to an event in our ward called "Bald for Bailey". Marc is battling stage IV colon cancer and we were trying to raise money for him. He is a great guy, humble man, and has such a positive attitude. They are guessing that about 50 people shaved their heads that day for him. What a tribute of love for Marc.
Tyler called up Grandpas and Grandmas, Dad and Mom and asked "How much money you give me to bald my head?"
Tyler raised 45 dollars to shave his head! What an example to me. I am so proud of Tyler and his willingness to help a friend out. Tyler was a little nervous to get his head shaved, but his good primary teacher Sis Beverley was there and was more than willing to cut Tyler's hair. She did it with love and Tyler felt really good about the decision to shave his head.
Jarel and Braxton were studs too!! Way to be supportive and donate for a great cause! We have awesome people in our neighborhood and ward.
After we got home, I put Braxton down for a nap. When he woke up I noticed that they missed some hair. So I got out my clippers and started to cut the hairs that they missed. Hailey came up to me and asked if I could buzz her hair too. I asked, "what??" She told me, "Buzz my hair please" I didn't know what to say. How could I buzz her hair. But she was determined. So I told her to go ask Jarel. She ran downstairs and said, "Dad you buzz my hair?" He told her to go and ask me :) it went back and forth, neither of us sure that we wanted to buzz her hair. I then sat Hailey down and explained the reason the boys buzzed their heads. I used simple terms of how Marc was sick and we were giving him money to help him if we shaved our heads. Hailey looked at me and without hesitation said, "I have money my bank, I give to Marc!" How could I say no to that?!? I couldn't so I buzzed her head. All those pretty blond locks fell to the floor. Hailey was so happy after her hair was buzzed off. She then hopped in the tub to get the hair off of her and afterwards got down her piggy bank and carefully picked out the money she wanted to give to Marc. It was probably all of $2.00 but the sacrifice was much more. She collected her money and put it in a bag and off we went to Marc's house. He wasn't home, so we went to his sister's house who also lives in our ward. Chris (Marc's brother in law) answered the door, and I asked if Marc happened to be there. He said yes and to come on in. We walked in and Chris went and got Marc. Marc walked around the corner and Hailey stretched out her hand and handed this money to Marc. What a sweet moment for me. I think we all had to look away for a minute to control the tears. I explained what had happened and how this was all her idea and that she wanted to do it. Marc gave her a big hug and told her how beautiful she was. The two of them had these smiles that wouldn't leave! It was awesome. An experience I will not forget.
My kids teach me more than I think I teach them. Today they taught me about LOVE and SACRIFICE. I am so humbled to have witnessed this and am so grateful that I have these kids. They truly are the reason I go on everyday when things get hard. So grateful for Jarel and his big heart. What can I say, I have 4 of the best bald looking people around!!!
