Santa

I have no pictures to go with this story (oh how I wish I had my camera to capture my kids' faces).
The first Monday in December is always a "night of sharing" in our neighborhood. We got to the park and give toys to Santa and Mrs. Claus so they can give them to kids in our area. The kids were so excited to go this year, we had our toys ready and they were talking about it all day.
Jarel called me from work about 3:00 and asked if I remembered we had his family's Christmas party. I knew they did their party the first Monday of December every year, but this year I didn't hear anything about it, so I assumed they weren't going to have it. I was wrong...Jarel said it was still on and that he would like to go because of the recent passing of his Grandma (this party is with Grandma Hathaway's side of the family).
I told Jarel he will have to tell the kids they don't get to see Santa and Mrs. Claus and he would have to make it up to them BIG time.
He came home from work, and told the kids. They were disappointed, of course, but I told them we could go by the park on our way to the party to see if they were getting ready. The neighborhood thing went from 6-8 and we had to be to the party at 6. We drove by the park at 5:30 and nobody was there. With sad kids in the back seat, I said that on our way home, we would stop again and hopefully he would be there.
We went to the party, had a good time and left about 7:45. We drove by the park at 8:30 and everyone was gone. Jarel told the kids he would take them to see Santa another night. They were "okay" with that.
As we drove home and came around the corner to our house, who did I see? SANTA making house visits. He was at our neighbor's house, so we pulled into our garage and I told the kids to get their toys and come see who I just saw. They came out of the van, and there was Santa coming down the neighbor's front stairs. Santa came running over saying "there you are. I've been looking for you!" The kids faces were priceless. They were so surprised to see Santa at our house, and so excited. They visited with Santa for a little bit, told Santa what they wanted and got to shake Santa's bells. It was the perfect ending for the night.
When we got inside, Makena couldn't stop saying "That was awesome!! That was awesome!!" Makena, Tyler and Kali were all jumping around, so thrilled that they got to see Santa. That definitely turned my sad kids into excited kids!!
