Thanksgiving Week

A very Happy Thanksgiving! We had a fabulous time celebrating all week long. We first started out on Monday night with a FHE lesson on things we are grateful for. We each took turns telling eachother the things we are thankful for and why. Then we made Turkeys out of apples. They kids thought that was the coolest thing ever.

So a little list of things I am grateful for - in no particular order of importance!
1. My husband - without him, there would be no us! I am grateful for his constant support, being a hard worker, a great father to our kids, a priesthood holder and my best buddy ever!! He makes me laugh everyday and I love him so much!
2. My kids - four amazing little people. They teach me the true meaning of life. They have so much love in their hearts for me (even when I yell or get after them, they still love me). They teach me patience, to laugh at the little things, they teach me that you can wear a purple shirt with a pink dress and bunny slippers (Makena) and it doesn't matter what other people think as long as you like it! They teach me to get down on the floor and play. Love these precious kids!
3. My Dad and Mom - what can I say? They are 2 of my best friends! Always there for my family, supportive, always willing to help in anyway without ever complaining, always spoiling the grandkids and they taught me how to live the gospel and how to be a couple!! I try not to let a day go by that I don't talk with them. You can learn so much from them and I am always needing a smile on my face and that is what I get when I do talk to them! So thankful for them.
4. Jarel's parents - They aren't my in-laws they are my second Mom and Dad. I was so blessed to have married into a great family. They are very supportive, help in anyway possible, great Grandparents for my children, make me laugh and are just truly wonderful people!
5. The gospel - Grateful for a loving Heavenly Father who hears and answers prayers. A Savior who makes it possible for me to return to them. The temples, so that we can be an eternal family. The scriptures so that I can teach my children the stories and lessons that are in them. My testimony that I know the church is true!
6. My house - Especially this time of year, I am so grateful to be able to come in from the cold and get warm and feel safe inside.
7. Jarel's and my jobs - Not that I love to leave my family and go to work, but I am lucky to have a job that is flexible and where I get to pick my hours to work. I am grateful for Jarel's work that he has. It allows me to stay at home and be with my kids. A hard day at home...always beats a good day at work!!!
8. My siblings - So many fun memories growing up with them. I am glad we are close to eachother. They make me laugh. They teach me and they accept me for me (I think!) They are included in my best friends list!

There are many other things that I am thankful for...

Makena with the turkey she made

Kali with a piece of candy in her mouth and with her turkey

Tyler with his turkey

We talked on the phone to Grandpas and Grandmas (11-24-10)

We spun around until we were very dizzy (11-24-10)

She found that laying down on the "sit and spin" makes her spin faster.

We celebrated Jarel's 35th birthday! (11-25-10) His birthday was on Thanksgiving this year. We relaxed in the morning and gave him a little gift (he got his big gift a couple months ago - a leaf blower- so that he could use it). Then we went to his parents for Thanksgiving dinner and birthday cake. I hope he had a great day! He claims that this year everyone was celebrating his birthday with turkey and pie!

Not the best looking cake, but we tried. He loves the Dallas Cowboys and so we made a football field cake for him. GO COWBOYS! They played that day...but unfortunately they lost :(

Jarel getting ready to light his candles.

Lighting the candles...kind of cheated this year by not using a match!!

Blowing out his candles...hope he made a good wish!

Hudson, MacKenzie and Makena enjoying some cake.

Tyler eating cake.

Kali eating some birthday cake

We slept
Kali and Tyler had been up all day and were so tired from not getting a nap. So they both crashed about 7:00 at Grandpa and Grandma's house. Thank goodness they slept all night and slept until about 6:45 the next morning.

We slept some more (11-26-10)

Kali ate some birthday cake and then curled up in Hailey's blanket and fell asleep on the bench.

Asleep on the bench.

We ate oreo cookies...but some only ate the middles (Kali 11-26-10)

We watched as the Utah Utes beat the BYU cougars (11-27-10). It was a very close game and came down to a missed field goal by the cougars to give the Utes the victory (score 17-16). It was a fun game to watch and I got the kids all ready for the game with their Ute attire! Don't they look so cute.

We also did some Black Friday shopping (11-26-10) and almost got hurt by a drunk lady. I went to Walmart to get their midnight deals. I love doing Black Friday. Some people think I am crazy...but I love going to getting the "deals." When I walked into Walmart I found one of the items I wanted, there weren't people standing around it (not the most popular item) so I went to look for my other item. I asked one of the employees where it was at and she said, "just right down there. But we only got 20 of the items in and there are about 50 people waiting for it.) I thought, "great, I'm not going to get one, but I will go check it out." I went and found the item and there were a lot of people around it. I met a woman who got there after me and we started to chat a little asking eachother if we thought it was possible that we get one. Some of the people standing by this item didn't just want one, they wanted 4 or 5 of them. It was about 11:15 at this time and so we had 45 minutes to go before they let us grab the item. So as I was chatting with this lady, people were moving a little bit away from the pile and so I just started making my way closer and closer. As we were waiting, some other lady came to get the pots and pans that were by this steamer mop that I was waiting for. All of a sudden this lady yells "I'm over here." She was yelling for her drunk daughter that she lost in the store who was yelling for her. It was crazy...this drunk chick finally found her mom and I swear if I was any closer to here, I probably would have gotten drunk off her smell. It was horrible and she was definately drunk. People were taking pictures of her to put on their facebook page and she was just a smiling for the camera. So anyway, back to the waiting. I was still inching my way up and I got just a person away from the pile of steamers (now people were all away around the pile). As the guy from Walmart pulled the plastic cover off the steamers, steamers went a flying. The drunk chick, ran right up to the pile and threw a steamer and it flew over my head and I thought I was going to get struck. And then I also thought I wasn't going to get one because there weren't not a lot left after I came out of my shock from almost being hit. But I looked down and there was a pile of 4 and I reached in and just grabbed one. I GOT ONE!!! My box was ripped and smashed, but the steamer mop wasn't. It was a thrill. What fun! What we do for a deal. I then got my other items, stood in line for 1 hour and 15 minutes and then went home and went to bed. Jarel got up at 3:30 and went to Target and was back by 4:15 with all his stuff. What happened there...I almost get hit and was in line for hours and he just goes in, gets what he needs and is out the door. The day before Jarel had no intentions on going out on Black Friday, but when I found an item at Target that I wanted, he said he would do it and of course now he had to because it was a challenge for him to see if he could get it. Well, he had no problems. My mom went with my last year, but was unable to this year so I was on my own. I told Jarel next year we are getting his Dad to come sleep at our house with the kids so he can come with me. When you go by yourself, you can't get all that you want because you can't be in 3-4 places at the same time. But I did the 3 things I absolutely wanted and the other things I didn't get will just have to wait until next year's BLACK FRIDAY!!!

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving week. We have so much to be thankful for and I hope you thank Heavenly Father every day for all that he gives each one of us!
