Today for the 4th of July, we worked on the basement in the morning and have one more step to go before carpet comes on Thursday!!! We then headed to my parents for roasting hot dogs and playing in the pool and outside games.
The weather wasn't the greatest, with dark clouds and rain showers. It was till warm, but with no sun to heat up the pool, the water was cool. But luckily the kids had Grandpa and Dad that would fill up buckets of hot water and dump it in the pool. The kids thought that was the greatest and would sit right where the warm water was poured in. They played for quite awhile in the pool, even with blue lips and them shivering...they didn't want to get out. At one point my dad stood in the pool with my kids and then he "accidentally slipped" and fell in the pool. All 3 kids went in every direction trying to avoid the splash. They didn't see that coming and it was quite funny. They had a great time. Eventually after dinner, they decided they had enough and got out to do sparklers.
We played croquet, roasted hot dogs, ate good food, then did smores and then we did sparklers and poppers.
When we were about to do fireworks, it became really windy and so we were unable to do fireworks. It was a bummer, but we will do them another day!
Makena was happy to see when we got home that our neighbors were outside lighting off fireworks...so we joined them for a little while!
It was a really fun weekend celebrating our freedoms that we enjoy. Grateful for the men and women that serve our country to protect it that give my family the freedoms that we enjoy!
