Today at school, Makena gave her great brain project report. She learned all she could about sheep, we went to my Aunt Erma's house and took pictures and then she presented it to the class. (We made the pictures bigger, and Makena had her report written on the back of the pictures and she held them up and told her class about them.) She was a little scared to get up in front of her class, but she did AWESOME!! She spoke loud and clear, was able to answer the questions from her class and had a smile on her face at the end of the presentation. It is nice to have this report out of the way. She only needs one more item then she can get her Dolphin Award (an award from school) at the end of the year!
"My Aunt Erma has sheep at her house. I like to go over and see them, but didn't know much about them. So I did my report on sheep. Sheep have thick wool to keep them warm. The sheep get their wool cut 1 time a year when it is warm outside."
"Sheep drink water. But when sheep are little, they drink milk. I was able to feed one of her little lambs some milk."
"Sheep have babies one time a year. They can usually have 1, 2 or 3 babies at a time. This year my Aunt Erma has 5 baby lambs. Twins and Triplets."
"I was able to see the baby sheep run. They can run pretty fast."
"When sheep are born, they have black wool. When they get bigger they can either be black, white or have both colors on them."
"Sheep eat alfalfa in the winter and they eat grass in the summer. Sheep also eat grain and bread. Sheep are fed 2 times a day."
"The sheep were brought to America from England. They were raised for their wool and also for their meat. The sheep usually live to be 8 years old. I was glad that I was able to go see the sheep and learn more about them."
