St. Patrick's Day

Every year for St. Patrick's Day, the kids and Jarel make a trap so that they can catch a Leprechaun. They made a pretty good trap this year, but no luck in capturing a Leprechaun. And every year the Leprechauns take our pots and fill them with gold chocolate coins and money and then they hide them around the house. St. Patrick's Day morning brought the kids out finding our house was a mess. The couches and chairs were turned, our pots of gold were hidden, diapers were all over the ground, cupboard doors were opened and towels were on the kitchen floor. They thought it was so funny that the Leprechauns had made a mess. They went to the trap to see if we caught a Leprechaun. Makena and Kali were very afraid that we had actually caught one. They stayed back from the trap and didn't want to open it up. Those little Leprechauns could run out and get them!! But we didn't catch one this year. The kids quickly found their gold pots. They wore their green all day (except Kali, and she didn't care if she wore green or not and she didn't care if people pinched her), we did Makena's hair to look like a rainbow with a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. We delivered goodies to Grandparents and just had a fun day.

Tyler and Makena setting up the trap. Hailey and Kali fell asleep. They set up a trap, put a trail leading to the trap and then put pieces of gold candy (rolos, werthers) on the trail and under the trap in hopes of catching a Leprechaun.

St. Patrick's Day morning...Seeing if they could hear a leprechaun inside.

Deciding who was going to turn over the trap.
Hailey was the brave one this year and turned over the "trap" to see if a leprechaun was inside. Unfortunately there were no leprechauns underneath. They just took all the candy that we left and ate them and left the wrappers all over the ground. We will have to build a better trap next year. (notice Makena and Kali far away. They were scared that we actually got one. They didn't want it running out and getting them!)
Hailey with her pot of gold. She was happy with what was inside (and would dump it out and put it back in several times), but she was more excited when she found out the "gold coins" were actually chocolate!!!
Tyler loved the gold coins
